EDF Workforce Summit to feature Keynote Speaker Bradley Lum on November 12

October 30, 2024

The Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation (EDF) is proud to announce its upcoming Workforce Summit, set for November 12 from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Greenwood-Leflore Chamber of Commerce. This summit will bring together key workforce partners and business leaders from across the region to explore collaborative solutions to strengthen Leflore County’s local workforce and foster economic growth.

A highlight of the event will be a keynote address from Bradley Lum, founder of Second Stride Workforce Solutions, a leader in workforce reentry. Bradley Lum has dedicated his career to empowering individuals facing barriers to employment, particularly those reentering society after incarceration. His organization, Second Stride Workforce Solutions, provides career counseling, skills training, and job placement to help individuals find meaningful employment, reduce recidivism, and positively impact their communities. Lum’s pioneering work and advocacy for fair employment policies have made him a nationally recognized thought leader in workforce reentry and policy reform.

“This is a unique opportunity for our community to learn from an industry leader like Bradley Lum,” said Thomas Gregory, Executive Director of the Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation. “Bradley’s work demonstrates how a supportive pathway to employment can create a ripple effect of positive change, not only for individuals but for entire communities. We’re honored to have him share his insights here in Greenwood.”

In addition to Bradley Lum’s keynote address, the Workforce Summit will feature two engaging panel discussions with representatives from key organizations. These panels will provide insights into local workforce resources and opportunities for collaboration, addressing the pressing challenges faced by employers in the region and showcasing innovative programs designed to build local talent.

The event will begin with registration at 8:00 a.m., followed by an education-focused panel discussion at 8:30 a.m., where leaders from Delta Health Alliance, Greenwood Leflore School District, Mississippi Delta Community College, and Mississippi Valley State University will share insights on available programs and strategies to address workforce challenges. After a networking break, a second panel on workforce development will begin at 10:00 a.m., offering further insights from leaders at Accelerate Mississippi, South Delta Planning and Development District, WIN Job Center, and the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services. The summit will conclude with Bradley Lum’s keynote address at 11:00 a.m., providing valuable perspectives on workforce reentry and community impact.

This Workforce Summit is a valuable opportunity for local business and industry leaders to connect with regional workforce resources and explore actionable solutions to grow Greenwood’s workforce. Registration is free and open to all local employers, industry professionals, and interested community members.
